A journalist and author who writes about Asian politics and society, David Volodzko is the national editor for Korea JoongAng Daily, the sister paper for The New York Times in South Korea.
He is a columnist for South China Morning Post and writes a weekly blog on China for The Diplomat. His writing has appeared in The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, Vice and The Washington Monthly, among others. He has also appeared as a guest on BBC World Service, BBC’s Impact with Yalda Hakim, CBC News, ABC Australia and Huffington Post Live, and his research has been cited by a congressional report on drug trafficking in China.
A former lecturer at Soongshil University, Seokyeong University and Cheongju National University of Education, he received his bachelor’s degree in English literature before completing graduate research in human behavior and intercultural communication at Stony Brook University.
David has lived in Asia for 14 years and has been based in Japan, South Korea, China and India. He has also reported from Mongolia, Nepal, Denmark and Israel. He is a Bahamian-American from Virginia who loves coconuts and bluegrass, Puer tea and William Shakespeare.
